Although I was taught that the week begins on a Sunday, to me it is a day that marks the end of the week. It is a day about reflection and new beginnings. In the essence of this vein of thought I have created a category called Sunday Morning. The premise behind this category is to share with you a thought, a quote, a word, some artwork, music or lyrics – something that has inspired me so I can make the best out of the week to come.

I have come to realise that life is influenced greatly by our mind-set. If we begin to feel negatively, then our perception of everything (including ourselves) is coloured by that mood. The great thing is, that almost all the time we have the power to change our mindset, make it more positive and show more gratitude and love life a little more.

I believe in the power of words and in the creativity of ourselves and others to help influence our attitudes and I hope that by sharing what inspires me, I will inspire you too!

This past week it has been my low moods, the ones filled with self loathing and doubt that have resonated with me most. It is impeding on my writing time and my creative output. I can’t actually remember the last time I felt this much self loathing toward my work! To confront this I’ll be looking for the numinous around me.

There’s a great quote by Grant Morrison that demonstrates exactly how I feel.

“If our shallow, self-critical culture sometimes seems to lack a sense of the numinous or spiritual it’s only the same way a fish lacks a sense of the ocean. Because the numinous is everywhere, we need to be reminded of it. We live among wonders.”
